How we work

From colour choice to a neatly covered staircase

By doing everything in-house, we keep quality in our own hands. One point of contact, from design to installation.

  1. First meeting

We discuss your staircase, your interior and your budget, and choose the wood type, colour and tread shape together.

  2. Digital measuring

Every project is carefully measured digitally beforehand, so that every tread fits exactly.

  3. Production in our workshop

Treads, mitres and colour finish are made in our workshop, with an eye for an unbroken grain.

  4. Installation

Expert installation in your home or on site, and a staircase that is handed over neatly covered.

About us

An industrial designer and an engineer

Plus One Stairs grew out of a passion for wood and aesthetics. Robin Debeuf, industrial designer, built up his experience in joinery, from installation to product development. Simon Jackson comes from the metal industry, with a focus on engineering, work preparation and modern measuring techniques.

Together with their team of craftsmen they are building an innovative and durable system for stairs, one that brings out the best in every piece of wood.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your question? Feel free to call or email us.

Can a concrete staircase be clad in wood?
Yes. A rough concrete staircase is first levelled precisely, so that every rise and going is exactly equal. The wooden cladding is then bonded onto it over the full surface. More on the stair cladding page.
What is the difference between a standard staircase and a custom one?
In the standard range you choose from oak or beech, 6 colours and a fixed build-up. That gives you a sharp quote quickly. With custom work everything is open: wood type, colour, shape and details such as a rounded curtail step.
Why do you use an engineered stair plank?
A stable plywood core with a solid wood top layer barely moves in a changing indoor climate. That makes wider and longer planks possible, up to 30 cm wide from a single piece of top layer. Read more on the our stair plank page.
How much does a wooden staircase cost?
That depends on the shape, the number of treads, the wood type and the finish. That is why we work with a quote tailored to your project. Send us the measurements or a photo via the stair enquiry.
Do you work for private clients, architects and contractors?
Yes, for all three. For professionals we can also take care of just the production of the treads and the measuring, so that you receive a ready-to-fit product on site.
