How we work

The Perfect Match: your staircase, 100% configurable to your wishes

Not a choice from a catalogue, but a journey. We start from your home, your floor and your taste and arrive together at the staircase that suits it best: in shape, wood type, colour and finish.

  • Personal guidance
  • Matched to parquet and interior
  • Custom made in our own workshop

Step by step

How we find your perfect match together

Six steps, one point of contact. You do not need to know anything about stairs beforehand; we ask the right questions and show what is possible.

1

Your situation today

Every staircase starts with what is already there. A rough concrete staircase in a new build needs a different approach from a worn wooden staircase in a terraced house, or a shell-phase build where there is no staircase yet. Recognise your situation? Then you know straight away which direction we will take together.

2

Your floor and interior

Your parquet or floor is always the starting point. Does the parquet run right up to the staircase? Is the floor light or dark, sleek or rustic, oiled or lacquered? A photo or a sample of your floor is enough to see which wood type and tone go with it.

The rest of the interior counts too: the colour of the walls, the joinery, the kitchen. That way the staircase is not a separate element, but part of the whole.

Wood type and construction

Oak is the most popular wood type: strong, beautifully grained and finishable in almost any tone. Beech is part of our standard range. For custom work almost all wood types are possible, such as wenge, teak, padouk, larch or mahogany.

The treads themselves are engineered stair planks: a stable plywood core with a solid wood top layer, up to 30 cm wide from a single piece. That lets the grain run on unbroken, and the tread barely moves in a changing indoor climate.

4Colour and finish

Two routes to your colour

A personalised finish that we make for your floor, or a colour from an existing palette. They are two different processes; that is why we show them separately.

The Perfect Match

Personalised colour matching

The staircase is matched to your existing parquet floor or interior. In the workshop we apply artisanal finishing techniques, often in combination, until the tone and look tie in with your floor:

  • Smoking
  • Ageing
  • Charring
  • Lye-treating
  • Oiling
  • Lacquering

Wood is a natural product, and your floor has already lived a little. That is why we always work with a sample that you lay next to your floor, so that you see beforehand how the staircase and the floor look together.

Standard colours

Choosing from an existing palette

Prefer quick and clear? Then you choose a colour from our existing colour palettes. We show them separately for oak and for beech, because the same finish comes out differently on each wood type.

This is the route of our standard range: a fixed set of choices, short lead times and a transparent quote.

Shape and details

Only now comes the shape. A straight flight, a winding staircase or a spiral staircase with a rounded curtail step. Treads set at an 80° angle (Z-tread) for a deeper going. Treads only, or treads and risers with a nosing for a fully wooden look.

Details finish it off: a balustrade, a landing, LED lighting under the treads, seamless mitres and a grain that runs on from tread to tread.

Measure, make, install

Every project is digitally measured beforehand, so that every tread fits exactly, even on staircases that are never quite square or even. Treads, mitres and colour finish are made in our own workshop in Menen. Then we install the staircase expertly in your home or on site, and hand it over neatly covered.

Everything in-house, with one point of contact from first meeting to installation.

Questions

Questions about The Perfect Match

Can't find your question? Feel free to call or email us.

Do I need to know already which type of staircase I want?
No. That is exactly the idea behind The Perfect Match. Tell us what is there today (concrete, an old wooden staircase, a shell-phase build) and what your home looks like. We propose the solution that fits best and you decide.
Can the colour of my staircase be matched to my parquet?
Yes, that is our speciality. With artisanal finishes (smoking, ageing, charring, lye-treating, oiling or lacquering) we work in the workshop towards a tone and look that tie in with your floor. Wood is a natural product, so we always work with a sample next to your floor, so that you see beforehand what you will get.
What is the difference between The Perfect Match and the standard colours?
The Perfect Match is a personalised process: the finish is made specifically for your floor and interior. The standard colours are existing colour palettes on oak and on beech that you choose from directly. Both can be applied to our engineered stair planks.
What is best to send with my enquiry?
A few photos of the current staircase or the stairwell, a photo of your floor and, if you have them, the measurements. A sample of your parquet is welcome at the first meeting. Start your enquiry via the form or call us.
Which wood types and shapes are possible?
Oak is the most popular wood type; beech is part of our standard range and for custom work almost all wood types are possible, such as wenge, teak, padouk, larch or mahogany. As for shape: straight staircase, winding staircase, spiral staircase, Z-tread, rounded curtail step, with or without risers, balustrade or LED lighting.
